And of the ten horns that were in his head,
and of the other which
came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a
mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his
fellows. 21. I beheld, and that same horn made war with the saints, and
prevailed against them; 22. Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was
given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints
possessed the kingdom. 23. Thus he said,
The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall
devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down and break it in pieces. 24. And
the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and
another shall rise
after them; and he shall subdue three kings.
--- Here is our introduction to the
antichrist! The little horn seems to take the place of God by his great voice
and the words that come from his mouth. It is different than the fourth beast
and yet is closely related. Bible scholars agree that the fourth
beast represents the kingdom of Pagan Rome.
---From this point on let us list the
Bible clues that will help identify the little horn. Starting with verse 24 let
us notice: (1) He rises after the ten; (2) He is different from them;
(3) He uproots or subdues three kingdoms.
--- History confirms God's prophecy
that Rome was not overpowered by a fifth kingdom but instead it was divided and
ended up with ten separate kingdoms by 483 A.D. So the little horn antichrist
comes after 483 A.D and in order to become established it was to push aside
three kingdoms.
--- This is exactly what happened. In A.D. 493 the Heruli were
overcome; in A.D. 534 the Vandals; and in 538 A.D. the Ostrogoths were subdued.
These were strong Arian kingdoms who opposed the rising power of the bishops at
Rome. Finally the church leaders at Rome were able to influence Justinian into
outlawing the Arians. In 538, after a five year war, the last of the
Arians were uprooted and Justinian's decree went into effect that the bishop of Rome should
be regarded as the head of all the churches in the Roman empire.
--- 538 A.D. marks the start of "the Holy
Roman Empire" .It was different than all previous kingdoms because it was a
Church-state, religious-political power. The Church ran the government! The
ecclesiastical hierarchy used the army to enforce it's doctrines.
--- God has told us history in advance!
10. Dan.7:25 -
Can you find four more clues to help identify this power?
25. And he
shall
speak great words against the most High, and
shall wear out the saints
of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be
given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
--- Add these four statements to the three already
listed: (4) (boastful words =
blaspheme) (5) (wear out saints = persecutes) (6) (change times and laws = God's law & Sabbath time)
(7) (time, times and the dividing
of time = 1260 days or literal years. Compare Rev.11:3; 12:6,14; 13:5)
--- The Roman
Papacy fulfills all four specifications: -----
1.
It lasted 1260 years from 538 to
1798 when the pope was taken captive by the French general Berthier and their
supremacy of power was gone.
2.
During those 1260 years at least fifty-million
people were executed as heretics, because they disagreed with the teachings of
this world-church.
3.
It did speak great blasphemous words claiming
the right to forgive sins and stating that the pope was another God on earth.
4.
It claimed to be above God by changing one of
God's Ten Commandments so that the Sabbath was changed from the seventh to the
first day of the week.

Ezek.22:26-28 -- What three classes of people worked against God's truth?
Ezek.22:26. "Her priests
have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished
between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the
unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that
I am profaned among them.
27. "Her princes in her midst are
like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get
dishonest gain.
28. "Her prophets plastered them
with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them,
saying, `Thus says the Lord God,' when the Lord had not spoken.
--- This is a picture of what has happened with this
same antichrist power. The priests hid their eyes from God's true Sabbath and
installed a substitute day. Then some others try to hold the false Sabbath in
place by making up lies and claiming God has spoken when he has not!
12. Matt.15:3,8,14 - (note v.9) What worship did Jesus say
would be in vain?
Mat.15:3. But He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the
commandment of God because of your tradition?
8. These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their
lips, but their heart is far from Me. 9. And in vain they worship Me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments
of men. 14. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the
blind. And if the blind lead the blind,
both shall fall into the ditch.
--- Should we follow
leaders who are blind to the Sabbath commandment?
NO! Of course not.
---- Is it only a matter of one day
against another?
NO! Of course not.
---- It is a matter of loyalty!
You either follow and obey God to end up in heaven or you follow blind rebels
and end up in the ditch.
13. Dan.7:26-27 -What
will be the final end of the "horn" power?
Who will
receive the everlasting kingdom?
Dan.7:26. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall
take away his dominion,
to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27. And the kingdom and dominion, and
the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the
people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
---
Truth will finally triumph over error.
Lies, false doctrines, and all the counterfeit Christ's, the antichrists, will be
destroyed! Christ and his
saints will receive the everlasting kingdom.
