I was born September 2, 1923 in Glendale, CA. It was really a painful Labor Day for my mother because I weighed around 11 pounds. She had gone from our home in Yuma valley, AZ to the Glendale Hospital for my birth and the attendants told her to take this big boy back to the ranch and put him to work on the farm.
That farm was a wonderful and fantastic place for a boy to grow up. There was no electricity, no running water, and no indoor plumbing; (Can anyone today imagine this?) but there was love and happiness and chores and games for children to share. We had cows, turkeys, and chickens to tend to. And we had pet goat kids, lambs, dogs and cats to feed and play with, irrigation canals to swim in, and we had 120 acres of our own plus the whole unfenced valley where we rode our horses.
In 1939 at the age of 16 I went away to a boarding academy and graduated from the La Sierra College Prep School in 1941. In 1943 I moved to Washington State and graduated from Walla Walla College in 1945. While at College I met Willeta Sample from Falls City, Oregon and we were married in 1945.
The story of our next 50 years, from 1945 to 1995 is written in my book, "UFOs, Angels, and Stories of Faith and Courage." It is really our autobiography. When I wrote the manuscript my wife didn't want me to use her real name in the book because she didn't want people to think she was crazy for having seen a "flying saucer." So I changed our names as well as the names of some others, but the stories are all true. The Bible truths that we learned and taught during our evangelistic ministry we wanted to share with our readers.
My book points out that great deceptions and terrible tragedies will occur more frequently just before the biblical "end of the world" but we also show how triumph and victory can come out of every tragedy. So when the New York City Twin Towers tragedy struck we donated 1000 copies of my book to volunteer counselors as a help in bringing comfort to those who mourned.
Today, it is still my prayer that wherever copies of this book have gone it will bring truth, hope and courage to the reader, and that he will accept the real Jesus as his personal savior and be ready for His most spectacular return.
That's what we are now. It's true that I may be old and
ugly but I don't think old. I am still
a dreamer like always. I can't jump as high as I used to but I can still
dream as high or higher. (When we were first married I could high jump over my
wife's head. She was five foot two with eyes of blue.) I think about those
days but I have faith in a future glory that will far outshine leaping over
somebody. We will be young again and able to fly with Jesus and the angels to
visit worlds where there has never been sin or death or pain. What an
experience that will be--for us, and for them! We will tell them about
our rescue from the pit of sin and tell them what a terrible risk and
sacrifice their God and Creator made for us.
So I may not be as active or sociable as I used to be but I still have some personal interests that I will be glad to share with you. The main thing that I want to share is my faith in Jesus and tell you that He is alive and coming back to this earth as Lord of lords and King of kings. He will soon finish his heavenly ministry and rise up to shake terribly the earth. He will come with millions of angels and rescue his loyal people from the flaming destruction that will sweep over the earth. He will resurrect the dead and save all "those who have done good, to eternal life;" (John 5:29_LB)
