Paintings:

Great Grandpa:

I think this was one of my best portraits.  It didn't get muddied with overwork.  I kept trying portraits hoping to get good enough to paint pictures of Jesus with children. -- a strong muscular Jesus -- with a sleeping baby -- a smiling happy water splashing Jesus.  I have more ideas but not enough courage or talent to do justice to it.

So I am working on this website instead that I might glorify Jesus.

Baptism in North Carolina near Lenoir.

As a pastor-evangelist in the Carolinas I met Billy Graham's mother and father in Charlotte. Like all the people we met they were wonderful, friendly down to earth type of home folks.

I was baptizing this young man and when I stepped back to lay him under the water my foot stepped into a deep hole and I almost got baptized again as well.  North Carolina is a very beautiful state.

My Chickens:

When I was a boy in Yuma AZ it was my job to feed the chickens.  I dropped the feed close to my feet. Some chickens became my favorite pets.  It was always hard for me to help kill and dress the chickens for the market.

Going Home

This was my "blue boy" monochrome. The dirt road, wet from a rain shower; the alfalfa, the barbed wire fence, the plowed field, and the country boy on his way home from the bus stop speaks to my heart.  I loved my old home place and my folks. I loved going home.

Myrtle Beach Carolina

My wife and I bought a little "Apache" tent trailer and with our three children we went on camping outings. We thought we were pretty smart. We drove across the US three times and lived in it once while waiting for a house. This world is not our home we are just tenting for a little while.

Guardian Angel

This is the first oil that I did, a copy of an old print.  The faithful St. Bernard guards the tired little girl.  It's getting late and he will stir to wake her up and lead her home.

I like dogs and dog stories and they teach us many spiritual lessons.

Guardian Angel #2

Has your raft broken loose and you are drifting downstream?  Are you frightened?  This dog may bark and get some attention, or he might swim, but God who rides with you can do more than that.  He can pick you up and fly you to safety. He is able but you must cling to him even if He decides to swim you through the Jordon River.

Painting made from a slide copy of Ed Jr. posing for me near Hickory, N.C. just before we moved to Madera, CA. The people said, "Why would you-all want to move to the dry brown desert California when you could stay here?" They couldn't understand how much we had missed all our relatives who lived out west.
